DIBP issued 3500 invitations for Skilled Independent Visas in September

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has released the results from the latest round of visa invitations issued to Skilled Workers for September.
On September 20, 1750 Skilled Independent visas (subclass 189) were issued to hopeful applicants while only 47 visas were issued for Skilled Regional (Provisional Subclass 489) applicants.
Only 93 invitations in total have been issued for Skilled Regional visas in September – the lowest amount recorded so far for the 2017-2018 migration period. July’s intake saw 210 while the round August recorded 256 invitations.
Meanwhile, 3500 invitations have been issued for Skilled Independent visas for the entire month of September – an increase from 2000 issued in the previous months.
In total, over 8000 skilled worker visas have been issued since July 2017.
It is worth noting that the figures below are not inclusive of nominations extended by individual states and territories.
